Donald Trump: Third-Rate Comedian in Power

Spring 2025

Third-rate comedian Donald Trump has cozied up to the warm-and-fuzzies of power. Shut up. Sit down. I didn’t call on you. He is in his element. I say third-rate because he is always putting people down: Meryl Streep is overrated; Robert De Niro has a low IQ; Rosie O’Donnell is a pig; Kamala Harris is retarded (his actual word choices)—Bullshit artist, Pocahontas, Bitch on Wheels—Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is a third-rate comedian, or second, or something.

Well, I might cozy up to the warm-and-fuzzies of domestic life, watching a TV movie with my partner in life. With my hand under his jersey, I rub his ribs and I find those spaces between them and follow them all the way to his spine and feel the nubs and connections there, and I rub him up and down his back, knowing well his nice skin and feeling the moderately tones muscles he has because he has a nice athletic build, and I cozy up to the sweet moment, and he pulls me tighter and focuses on the nicely inter-folded plot of the movie: He wasn’t ready for the fake FBI agent to come in and solidify that scam with the card dealer plant at the casino game table. I wasn’t ready either. It’s like Kris Kristofferson’s Sunday Morning Coming Down:

…there’s somethin’ in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone
And there’s nothin’ short a’ dyin’
That’s half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleepin’ city sidewalk.

He inter-folds his ideas, and he surprises you: He makes you feel it. I like the smart folding of ideas, and the surprises, and the gut-wrenching feeling of the truth that we finally get to.

Donald Trump is an excellent weasel-talker: It sounds like the truth, but it isn’t. It is his emotional truth, but he is a psychopath: His emotions do not run deep or true. I hate it when monumental assholes want to tell us exactly how to live our lives. Where are they leading us? Nowhere.

Psychopathy (si-kah-path-y) is a well understood personality disorder. It is not their fault—it is our fault if we let them rule the world. A psychopath’s judgment of right and wrong is faulty. They back up their mistakes with overwhelming bluster: calling people names, and ceaseless outright lying. Last week, he posted an AI image of himself as Pope. He said Catholics loved it, and fake-news journalists didn’t know how to take a joke. Then, he said he wasn’t the one who posted it. He weasels out of everything that way.

I worry that one time when he is wrestling with that sketchy line (for a psychopath) between right and wrong he will do something overwhelmingly stupid, like invade Greenland. Most of us understand what national sovereignty is. No one—no one—should be making threats of takeover of another sovereign nation. Consider it Denmark, consider in Greenland, whatever works for you. No one in the civilized world should be doing that. Donald Trump’s unruly mind is not within the civilized world. What he says and does is bold and interesting. He captivates us. However, we are wrong to let this go on. Let us do everything legal and civil and correct to remove him from power.
